This has to be a first

A cornerback with zero interceptions in the most recent season has declared for the NFL draft.
Asher Allen dropped the bombshell this afternoon. We wish him well, but I have to admit that the decision is puzzling.
Asher was one of the bright spots on the defense last year, and it’s arguable that replacing him will be a bigger challenge than replacing Stafford or Moreno. The heirs to the offensive stars might not be direct swappable replacements, but they were at least in line. I’m not so sure we can say the same for the cornerback position.

Unbelievable.
Oh well – I think Vance Cuff and Brandon Boykin have a lot of potential, and it ain’t that tough to replace zero interceptions.
Good luck in the League Asher – you’re a DGD.

In Asher’s defense any team that played us knew to pick on Bryan Evans, not Asher. The ball was rarely thrown to his side of the field. Oh, and ltes not forget the kid played with a broken hand for the last 4 games in the regular season. While I think he could’ve benefitted from another year at UGA, he’s a damn good corner in a draft class with pretty slim pickins.
Plus not many of us at 21 would’ve turned down $800,000 (current draft projection) especially to play another year for willie.
And Pete, I have to respectfully disagree with you – we’re not trying to replace zero interceptions as much as we are trying to replace a damn good corner. Finding a corner with Asher’s ball instincts, speed, & tackling ability won’t be easy. We’ll have a harder time dealing with his loss next year than we will the loss of MS & KM.
